Australia Study Participants

Thank you for your interest in COVID Critical as a prospect for your Intensive Care Unit in Australia.

In Australia, the intent of COVID Critical  is to work concomitantly with the SPRINT SARI observational study (ALFRED HREC Reference 202/16) to allow for less data collection workload and doubling of data entry. Additionally, for those patients who are also included in the EXCEL registry, EXCEL data will be requested to complement the COVID Critical data.

For inclusion into the study, your Australian Intensive Care Unit:

  • Must be enrolled or intends to enrol in the SPRINT SARI Observational Study (for data collection congruency)

  • Can be a paediatric Intensive Care Unit as the study is not specific to adults only

  • All COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care can be participants in the study, even if they are not mechanically ventilated or received ECMO

In view of this, we have specific Case Report Forms (CRFs)  based on your specific Intensive Care Unit (paediatric or adult) and if you are enrolled in the EXCEL study or not. If you would like to review your specific CRF and data dictionary, please contact us directly and we would be happy to forward this to you. Any other documents you require, please contact ECMOCARD@health.qld.gov.au.

BASIC CRF - DESIGNED FOR SITES WITH LIMITED RESOURCES FOR DATA COLLECTION

In response to feedback from our sites, COVID Critical recently launched a modified Case Report Form (CRF), referred to as the Basic CRF. This CRF features a significant reduction in data collection frequency, while maintaining collection of important variables to achieve research targets and analysis of clinically relevant outcomes. The frequency of daily data collection will be reduced from 14 days from hospital admission, on the day of ICU admission, and every day of mechanical ventilation, to a maximum of 7 non-consecutive days.

If your site is already enrolled in this study and you would like to learn more about the Basic CRF, you will find more information here.
